Truly Valued is pleased to announce it has received a generous grant of $55,000 from the Bishop-Parker Foundation in support of its I AM Academy programming in Manatee County. This funding will help expand access to character and confidence-building programs that serve at-risk youth ages 10–18 throughout the region.
The I AM Academy is a multifaceted mentoring and leadership development initiative that empowers young people to make positive behavioral changes, strengthen self-awareness, and prepare for future success. Through school and community-based programming, the Academy provides a safe, supportive environment where students can develop the tools they need to reach their full potential.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Bishop-Parker Foundation for this investment in our mission,” said Shavonne Johnson, Founder and CEO of Truly Valued. “This support allows us to grow our impact in Manatee County and continue equipping youth with the confidence and skills they need to thrive.”
Students in the program echo this sentiment. Quynh, Braden River High c/o 2025, shared:
“Truly Valued helps children find their identity. It also helps them get rid of their insecurities and encourages kindness and empathy. I was able to develop my social skills and learned to love myself.”
In 2024 alone, Truly Valued has expanded its reach to 16 schools and one community center across Manatee and Sarasota counties. With the support of partners like the Bishop-Parker Foundation, the organization is poised to continue growing and deepening its impact.
