Founded in 2016 by Shavonne Johnson, Truly Valued, Inc. began with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and empowered to thrive.
With more than a decade of experience in child welfare, Shavonne witnessed firsthand the challenges facing youth and families. But beyond those challenges, she saw something greater—their strength, resilience, and untapped potential.
Guided by faith, compassion, and a heart for service, she transformed that belief into a mission of empowerment through enrichment.
What began as one woman’s vision has grown into a community of dedicated staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters working together to empower youth, strengthen families, and create opportunities for brighter futures.

As we celebrate 10 years of service, Truly Valued continues to grow in both reach and impact.
Through youth mentoring, family education, literacy enrichment, and restorative justice programming, we help individuals develop confidence, strengthen character, embrace accountability, and recognize their potential.
Our work is rooted in three guiding values: Love, Love of Learning, and Spirituality.
These values shape how we serve, connect, and create meaningful opportunities for lasting change.

During our 2025–2026 reporting year, Truly Valued served 548 individuals, with 94% of assessed students demonstrating positive behavior changes and 96% of assessed parents showing measurable improvement.
These results represent more than numbers. They reflect growing confidence, stronger families, renewed hope, and lives moving forward with purpose.
